Dear Pride Cup Family,

After nearly 5 years of driving positive social change through sport and working tirelessly to ensure LGBTI+ people feel safe, welcome, and accepted in clubs and codes across Australia, we wanted you to be the first to know that James Lolicato will be finishing up as CEO in March 2023.

We are so grateful for James’ extraordinary contribution to the organisation, and movement, over his time involved in Pride Cup.

With James at the helm, Pride Cup has grown the movement from a handful of clubs in Victoria to have an impact in every state and territory in Australia and has built a proud family of over 550 sporting clubs throughout 16 different sporting codes, reaching over 15,000 players.

As well as community sport, Pride Cup has grown our reach to the elite sporting stadiums at events such as the Australian Open, A-Leagues and the AFL.

On behalf of the board, staff, partners, sponsors, communities and clubs, I want to sincerely thank James for his outstanding service. His commitment, passion, and drive have brought joy, truthfulness, and statements of love and acceptance to communities. The impact of this is that people feel proud to be who they are and for that, there are simply no words to express our deepest thanks. We wish James every success as he embarks on this next chapter.

While we will have the opportunity as a community to celebrate and thank James between now and his departure, in sharing this news with you all, I set James the unenviable task of summarising into a few sentences what he wanted to share with our Pride Cup family and this is what he said:

“My time at Pride Cup has been an absolute dream come true and it’s now time to allow somebody else to experience the incredible opportunities that I have.

I am so proud of the Pride Cup team, the Pride Cup board and the incredible community of volunteers and organisers who bring our movement to life.

After nearly a decade working in LGBTI+ inclusion in sport, it is time to retire my boots and let the next generation continue in creating a world where sport is everyone’s game’’

With every change comes new opportunities and I am excited to announce that today we are launching our CEO Recruitment process with our partners at Manpower, the global leader in permanent workforce recruitment.

Over the next five years, we are poised to transform the way we work to scale to a much larger club and community footprint. With a supportive and engaged board and an incredible array of partners like Coles, NAB, PWC, and the Victorian Government, we are looking for a passionate, entrepreneurial and impact-oriented leader who can help us bring this vision to life. You can read more about the role scope and our strategic priorities in the position description available here.

If that sounds like you, please apply. If that sounds like someone in your network, please encourage them to put themselves forward. If you’re able to help us amplify this exciting opportunity please share it on your socials. We look forward to keeping you updated as the process unfolds.

With Pride,

Holly Ransom, Pride Cup Chair
