Wallsend West Newcastle ARFC (The Swans) will celebrate its Pride Round with the Wyong Lakes AFC. The Pride Round is about celebrating diversity and inclusion in sport and the fight against discrimination and homophobia. The Family Hotel, Newcastle Pride and Highlite Fitness are sponsors of the jerseys and the day. Women kick off at 12 pm Men kick off at 2 pm. FREE EVENT Pride Cup (Hunter vs Central Coast) – Wallsend West Newcastle Swans vs Wyong Lakes Magpies Proudly supported by Central Coast Pride and Newcastle Pride! This will become an annual event between the two clubs and as such a Pride Cup (‘Hunter Central Coast Pride Cup’) has been commissioned for both the men and the women (so ‘two’ cups for two games). We are hoping this will become a bit of an M1 Derby for the AFL between Hunter and the Central Coast. This will become the first Pride Cup for Regional NSW and will be the ‘kick-off’ event for the Newcastle Pride Festival Week, that runs from 17 August to the 26 August 2019, and is highlighted by the Pride Fair Day at the Foreshore Park on Saturday 24 August, (in the vicinity of the Carriage Sheds) Wharf Road, Newcastle East (from 11am to 6pm).

Times & Teams

The Saints will face Sydney at the SCG on Saturday 24 August at 1:45pm. Sydney and St Kilda will clash in the fourth Pride Game for premiership points in history in the last round of the home-and-away season. As evidenced by Sydney’s official LGBTIQ supporter group, the Rainbow Swans, as well as the Diversity Action Plan (DAP), the LGBTIQ community is of enormous significance to the Club. The DAP is a joint initiative of the Board, staff, players and community leaders and among the four pillars it addresses is LGBTIQ pride.
